SnapQuery processes all your screenshots, photos, and documents 100% locally on your device using on-device machine learning (Google ML Kit). Your personal images never leave your phone.
1. Introduction
Welcome to SnapQuery: Screenshot Search & OCR ("we", "our", or "the App"). We are fully dedicated to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have complete transparency regarding how data is handled when using our application.
2. Data Collection and Processing
SnapQuery does not collect, store, or transmit your personal images, screenshots, notes, or scanned documents.
- On-Device Machine Learning: Optical Character Recognition (OCR) is performed exclusively on your device using Google ML Kit local libraries. No images or text are sent to external servers or cloud services.
- Local Database: Extracted text search indexes are stored locally in an encrypted Room SQLite database on your device storage. You can delete this data at any time by clearing the app cache or uninstalling the app.
3. Permissions Required by the App
To provide core search and organization features, SnapQuery requests the following standard permissions:
- READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: Required solely to scan device screenshots and photos so that you can search text within them.
- INTERNET & ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Required solely to serve non-intrusive advertisements provided by Google AdMob. The app never uses internet access to transfer personal media.
4. Advertising (Google AdMob)
We use Google AdMob to display advertisements within the app to support free ongoing development. Google AdMob may collect and process standard identifiers (such as Android Advertising ID), IP address, and app usage diagnostics in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy:
You can opt out of personalized advertisements by going to your Android device settings under Settings → Google → Ads.
5. Data Deletion and Retention
Because all media indexing is done locally on your device, you have complete control over your data. When you delete a screenshot or file inside SnapQuery, it is permanently removed from both your device storage and the internal index.
6. Children's Privacy
SnapQuery is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any updates will be posted on this page with a revised date.
